This is exactly what I was talking about the other day when I was describing my main take-away from the Piz Buin shoot:

Found it on svpply (also, for those interested, my svpply page).

Check out and/or buy the print here.

It has been a wet May… feels like we’re back in Seattle. But our house is full of flowers and it makes it feel alive. After plant-sitting for a couple weeks, I’ve really grown rather fond of the tabletop flora.

Here’s a little iPhone video we shot down in St Barts a few months ago. I’ll take a weekend away in a beautiful Caribbean island during the harsh New York winter any weekend in January… or February or March. Or now, too, for that matter.

So after the package update was designed, we then had the opportunity to work on the advertising campaign to promote the new product from concept all the way to the shoot (but the project was handed over to the Danish agency, Advance, for the actual completion and execution of the campaign). It was a a great learning experience to be around such professionals at the shoot. People such as Russell James, Lily Aldridge, Elan Cole (at jnj), Gavin Mulligan (at Advance), the whole Piz Buin team, etc. All exemplified their positions with dedication and grace. And taught me an important (if not a little cheesy) lesson about success: Kindness and hard work can take you a long ways in life.

When I first started at J&J last year, the first brand that I worked with was Piz Buin—a great company based out of Switzerland that is the original creator of sunscreen. I worked on some slight updates to the package design before diving in deeper with the advertising and eventual proposals for rebranding, etc. But, here’s the first line of work, released for purchase this summer.

The Thunder had a heartbreaker of a game tonight… man. It was almost a carbon copy of the game that really knocked the wind out of my other team, the Celtics, a couple weeks ago. Playoffs hurt, man.

Still, in spite of the pain, I can always appreciate the incredible work that the (now-defunct) FreeDarko team produces. This one was for an online ad in GQ, I believe, previewing the 2010-2011 NBA season. Pretty incredible. Check it out and get yourself a copy here.

This illustration of mine was featured on Inadvertent Haiku last week. Check them out for a clever and aesthetically-elevated way to get your news.

This celebration of the Coca-Cola brand is incredible. They tend to do such a good job at truly understanding the essence of their brand (“optimism”) and shouting it from the rooftops. And in this case, from the rooftop of their sky-scraping brand headquarters all the way down the sides and down to the ground.
Thanks @briancollins1 for the tip. Brian Collins is one of the brilliant creative minds fueling the sizzling eruption of Coke’s masterful brand presence.

This is an initial sketch idea that I worked on for a piece that I did for Inadvertent Haiku. The final should be posting Friday or sometime soon thereafter. I want to share some of the drafts that got me to the final and talk about some of the thought process behind it over the next little bit. But for now, just this little teaser.

I’ve been working on a poster for my sister-in-law’s Senior Cello Recital at SUNY Purchase this weekend and her prompt was “Flowers.” This was the beginning of one idea that I think is pretty nice to look at just on it’s own. I’ll post some more when it’s not 4:30 in the morning (This week has been really pretty productive, but has been all late nights… lots to come on here in the next little bit, though)
